Research shows
that the most important determinant of the successful outcome of therapy is how a person
makes use of their therapy. In turn, this is supported by a strong working alliance between a person and their
therapist. I believe that I can be most responsive to my clients when I work from an integrative perspective.
As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I have
evolved a way of working that draws on a number of different approaches to psychotherapy. I pay attention
to the nature of the working relationship that evolves between me and my clients and I use this awareness
to inform my understanding of their difficulties in life.
Some influences
I put importance on my own learning and development and have been influenced by a variety of
learning experiences from different approaches and techniques. The following have informed my way of working to varying degrees:
- Person-centred approach
- Psychodynamic approach
- Existential appproach
- Intersubjectivity
- Attachment theory
- Transactional Analysis
- Emotional Literacy groupwork
- Systemic Constellations groupwork (in the tradition of Hellinger)
- Group Analytic groupwork
- Phototherapy (after Weiser)
- Coaching and cognitive-behavioural approach
- Clean Language
I am a
UKCP-registered Integrative Psychotherapist
and a member of BACP (MBACP).
